Thinking Ink Press believes that people of all backgrounds deserve to have their voices heard. We primarily publish:
- nonfiction books about disability and children’s health
- inclusive writing books
- diverse science fiction and fantasy
We accept simultaneous submissions. Please let us know to disregard your query if you receive an offer to publish from another publisher. We won’t accept AI-generated or AI-edited works.
We pay an advance and/or royalties on everything we publish.
In the interest of maintaining our own mental health, we may take a while to respond, but we promise we still love you.
We are currently open to submissions for:
Speculative fiction novels and novellas
Our definition of “speculative fiction” includes but isn’t limited to: science fiction, fantasy, and horror. We’re most interested in speculative fiction relating to our mission:
To amplify disabled, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and other historically under-recognized voices.
- Email us a query to queries [at] thinkinginkpress [dot] com.
- Queries should be one page or less, and should include the title of the work, genre, wordcount, a brief pitch, and any other important information about the work.
- Include a one-page synopsis.
- Include a sample. The sample should be the beginning of your manuscript, probably 2-3 chapters, to give us a sense of the manuscript. Feel free to pick the stopping point that you feel works well.
- Use our Manuscript Preparation Guidelines to streamline our process of evaluating your work. If your work doesn’t readily fit those guidelines, feel free to email us with questions.
Nonfiction
- Topics we’re especially interested in:
- Inclusive writing advice / inspiration / reference books
- Nonfiction books related to disability, children’s health or parenting topics, and/or diversity
- Other nonfiction books relating to our mission:

- The query should be one page or less, and should include a brief pitch that describes your book and why it will appeal to readers, along with a short author bio.
